as i suspected, it was all that and more. the roar of the ocean was intoxicating; the sunset –mesmerizing, the view -unlike any that has ever before graced my eyes. i l.o.v.e.d. every second spent huffing the salty air and basking in the perfectness of it all. the beach is my tonic. it’s that addictive for me. we do plan to retire on these very beaches one fine day and i’m already decorating our getaway in my mind. i am just so glad i married someone that shares my passion for the oceans edge.
as for time spent with the whole family…well that in and of itself was a treat. i'm telling ya, i always have a blast with these people. i believe the pictures will testify to the greatness of it all so on with the show right! some of you know my family and some do not. therefore i will explain some of the photos as i go. i’m only sad to report that tropical storm hannah booted us out on our butts before we got the chance to take our family portrait on the beach, but there will be next time, of that i am certain. the 28 hour drive was oh so worth it.
And so it begins…
day one...
ghost crab hunting...
different day, ferry ride to ocracoke...
a sunset night out with jared...
a few of the view from our porch...
more beaching...
fishin' off the back porch...cam and jake caught sting rays ha!
dinner out with the fam...blackened mauhi mauhi and snow crab ..mmm
followed by a beach fire and s'mores right on the ocean front, waves crashing...
and alas, more beaching...
there were just way too many pictures to pick from guys. did i mention the sky was soaked in blue by day, and by night oh my word, all those stars and the perfect breeze...it was breathtaking.
anyway, it was a fantastic time and i can't wait until next year!!!

i'm still pouting around the house. nothing compares does it. oh well, back to grind till next year:(
love ya
I share the love of the beach with you. I can't think of a place I'd rather be than at the beach. Looks like you had a GREAT time. You are adorable and you and Jared are a perfect couple. Love seeing the boys too. How cute are they?
I thought I had a great vacation, but it looks like yours was a lot better than mine! I too love the ocean and can't wait to go there again! So glad you got the R&R that you needed! All your kiddos are too cute!
Brent wants to know the story with the sand in Leif's mouth...could that actually be sand? GROSS!!!
PS.are you back to life yet..laundry, cleaning, crapy stuff? i plan to work out tonight. brent kindly said on the way home (obviously after looking at me in a bathing suit all week) "you know you could start working out while maddie's at preschool now." well there ya have it...back to the grind of all things mundane.
PSS. and he swares he meant nothing by it;) whatev.
What a vacation! Isn't being with all the family just wonderful?! It seems you all stayed very busy and enjoyed every moment.
It looks like ya'll had such a wonderful vacay! So much fun! Since we live so close to the beach, I think we often take it for granted. Thanks for reminding me of what a treasure we really have. Having said that, I think I would not mind checking out the beaches of the Outer Banks---you painted a great picture and it sure is nice to GET AWAY from everyday life.
I'm glad ya'll had such a great time. I'm sorry that Hannah ruined the family photo, but all the MORE reasons to go back right!
the pic you see (of leif with what appears to be a mouth full of sand) is actually a mixture of a famous amos chocolate chip cookie...and sand. i know. i kept getting on to him for not rinsing his hands off before he ate his snacks and he finally got one by me. it had just enough sand in it to make him grimace; he learned his leasson i think, but why do they always push for learning the "hard way"?
ps of course i had the camera around my neck basically the entire trip so yeah, i got a pic of it. aren't his blue-green eyes beautiful in it though ;)
So beautiful. I'm uber-jealous of your fabulous, dreamy vacay! Isn't it great to come back all rejuvenated and ready to face to world of mundane once again?
I'm glad you and your family had such a wonderful vacation! I love all the pictures! You should do a photo book or something of your trip. what great memories!
You did such a great job painting a picture of your vacation! I loved your pictures, as always. You do such a great job capturing the moments. It sounds as if you had a dream get-away.
Oh, and by the way you look fab for having a baby so young!!
OH, coty I have only been to the beach once and fell head over hills in love with the place. I didn't want to leave....Don't you just love what Heavenly Father has given us. That vacation looked like a blast, hopefully next summer we get to go to;)
Way jealous...I know, I live by the beach, but my experiences aren't quite so relaxing and rejuvinating, but I do LOVE it! You all look like you had a blast and you look so fabulous! You and your hottie hubby! I'm glad you were able to enjoy everything. You have such a beautiful family. Gotta love a family of boys!
