for FHE jared took us to POPS on route 66. it was so amazing. jared found out about it through one of his orientation classes with Aubrey McClendon himself (the founder, CEO and Chairman of Chesapeake Energy). He called while on his way home from work and told me to have the boys ready cause we were gonna take a little drive. we were pumped, but squeals were coming from the backseat once we saw this...
pretty cool eh? the boys and i thought so. this thing is 66 ft tall. when Mr. McClendon bought the the property around route 66 there was an old gas station there on the corner that had closed down. instead of demolishing the old station (75 plus years old) Mr. McClendon decided to keep a station there and just make it a national attraction. he went with a retro theme and kept the old soda pop 50's feel to some of the interior. so not only can you buy gas there but there is a cute little diner to eat at on one side, and over 500 different types of soda pop to pick from on the other. all in the old style glass bottles...cute huh! i just love this place and we have officially started another Hurst Family Tradition. at least once a month from now on (or at least until we move again) we are going make a trip to arcadia OK and pick five new types of soda to try. i'm excited (and i love a good soda pop every now and again if i'm being honest) so on with the tasty treats.
the sodas we picked this time...
we're definitely POPS fans...

That is too fun. I'm definitely going to have to go there someday. So which soda pop was your favorite that you tried this time?
How fun... Carlin and I went there during the day so we didn't get to see the giant soda bottle lit up. I didn't realize Aubrey McClendon owned that place...we analyzed Chesapeake energy in one of my classes last semester! Oh - and I had that Black Cherry shown in your picture. I loved it!
How super fun!! I am totally gonna have to go there...my boys would freak w/ all the pop choices!
That is so FUN! I wish we had something like that here! What a fun family you are. I love all your traditions.
That's friggin' fabulous!!! Seriously, what a fun idea (way to go Jared)! I'd heard about it through Aubrey, now w/your accolades to, we'll definitely have to make a trip down sometime.
