this 4th of july was jam-packed with fun stuff to do. there just isn't enough room for all the pics. Jared took an extra day off and we headed out for the country (were my mom's cabin is located) for a mini vacay and some good ol' country fun.
a mighty storm blew in on the eve of the festivities, in just enough time to cool us all off. but not before we got to see some great fireworks and enjoy some great food -Thanks to Ninny and Paw-paw (Danny and Karen ;) they smoked everything to perfection. complete with homegrown veggies from Karen's garden (and her garden puts my wee one to shame, i tell ya!). it was sooo good, i think we all ate our weights worth of it (and now i want a smoker grill, because you just can't get that taste any other way).
I love the 4th of July, I love being with family and friends, I love this land and celebrating the freedom of our Nation. God blesses America everyday.
Now it's time for some pictures!
just look at my niece-y's face at the sight of that slice of watermelon
would ya look at all that grub fresh off the smoker...brisket, hotlinks, chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans, mom's potato salad...the list goes on.
look at my niece-y lillian, is she not such a peach in her little 4th of july dress (top row).
and my little niece, scout (bottom right) in her adorable 4th dress too. ah, and lets not forget my cheesin' little munchkins with their sparklers. and leif with the rocket...that thing was the bomb.com
shiny faces... ;)
the storm as it rolled in. it was so humid...
the big boys' skeet shooting...
and the little boys watching in wide-eyed anticipation through the window. my children seem to be half nude in most all the pictures i got of them?! true to their character i suppose.
jared (totally in his element) sawing some brush my mom wanted cleared out by the creek bed, that runs adjacent to her cabin (they did A LOT of this. hours and hours. and now jared is convinced he needs to buy a chainsaw.
nothing like chuggin' ice water from a mason jar to cool a guy off.
and last but not least... what good is the 4th of July weekend unless you're getting wet!!!
