Painting

So I attended a painting class last night, with some of the ladies in my family. While I did have a wonderful time, I've learned that I stress when it comes to painting, and have no natural "instinctive" painting abilities! However, with the step-by-step tutorial (emphasis on the "step-by-step"), lead by a very talented instructor, I created a amateur masterpiece ;-) One that I'm actually quite proud of! Jared was really kind and complimentary, asking me if he could take it and hang it in his office ~love him! I do so love the fall colors in it, and I'm the hugest fan of trees! So it's going somewhere in my home for the season :-) Also, although I am no Picasso, I would take another painting class in a heartbeat! Good times. Without further ado, I give you... Fall Leaves

Uhhh, I'm impressed. I thought you said you have no "natural painting abilities" - honestly, mine would have looked like something my kids make and I would have defended it by saying it was abstract art. You, my dear, are very talented. I would hang it in my house. :)

I would totally hang it in my home, too! Obviously you have some twinkling of talent...sheesh, girl! Mine would have totally looked like something my kindergartner produced! Wahoo for finding talents!!

Thanks Guys! I really am quite proud of it, but I can assure you, it really was all in the step-by-step.. I wouldn't have had a clue how to begin to paint anything!

I really loved it before I even read your post and saw that you created the masterpiece! You've got talent girl...give yourself a pat on the back and some credit! I love the colors!

it's funny that you used the word stress...that's how i would describe my relationship with painting. i took a watercolor class in college during a semester when i had a really heavy load, thinking that it would help me have some balance and be an "easy" class. it ended up being the most stressful class of the semester for me. i agonized over ever single assignment! it was hard for me to just let go and create..always worried i would do something wrong or mess it up. when in reality that's the beauty of art and creating...you can mess it up all you want! i really love this as well. very pretty, espeically for fall/winter. hope you're well and happy. take care.

Ooo, love it! I do know what you mean, though, about stressing over the art. I took an basic art class in college (we had to, being art history majors and everything :P) and man, was it stressful!

That's fantastic! Good job! It's beautiful. I love trees, fall, and particularly Quaking Aspens! I don't think it should only be seasonally displayed. My grandmother, mother, and I are all artists/painters to varying degrees (me being the least!) and we all have paintings in our homes displayed year round of different seasons - I have a spring/summer landscape, my mom has a snowy winter landscape, and my grandma has a fall landscape. I vote you proudly display it year round! It's beautiful!Plus, good job for trying something new! You're awesome!

Goal for next painting class = no stress! Goodness knows I was right there with you. lol! Hopefully we got out all of the pressure and stress this first go-round! :)
