The friday before Conference we had the opportunity to visit Palmyra, NY. Where the Prophet Joseph Smith grew up. We really enjoyed seeing everything and recounting the stories to our kids about the events that took place there many years ago ~The restoration of the Gospel.
now mind you, it was hot out and we were clicking pictures strictly to prove we were there ;) ...not really any posed and proper pics
the Visitor's Center
trucking up the Hill Cumorah
(where Moroni hid the plates, and Joseph was directed to find them)
Palmyra Temple
Smith Plantation
the room where the Angel Moroni appeared to the young Joseph Smith
For those mother's who are interested...this is called the Birthing Room. Boy, technology has come along way, eh?
this is the fireplace.
under this brick is one of the locations where Joseph hid the plates from the angry mob.
The Sacred Grove
Adeline fell asleep in Jared's arms and the boys wandered off on their own. The kids were actually quiet during the walk. We had explained that Joseph saw God the Father and His son Jesus Christ in this grove. I'm pretty sure it sunk in for them. We also saw a few deer while we walked through, that was neat.
We stopped by Lake Ontario on the way out and skipped rocks.
Apparently, we missed out on some delicious food/icecream in Palmyra, at a place called the "Chill Grill"...we'll have to go by there next time ;)

On to our Easter Shinanigans...
dying eggs...
oh yeah, and the boys got hair cuts! ~cute huh!
"show me your eggs"
then we did the traditional placing of carrots and greens on the front porch for the Easter Bunny.
and it paid off...
the Easter Bunny brought stuffed lovies for the babies, and underwear for the big boys ;)
Then came the Hunt....
Sam took a tumble so we all helped pick up his scattered eggs...oops!
"
Okay well, that was another huge post, eh? We had a great time despite the fact that it was like 90 degrees wih no breeze out. It was a good experience for all of us.
Stayed tuned because "Sweet's"
(otherwise known as Adeline) 5mnth sats are coming soon and plenty of pictures too!

Thanks for stopping by!
PS Conference was wonderful this year. It really called us Mother's to put our best foot forward in Motherhood. I loved that it emphasized teaching Gospel Principals in the home. I was reeling by the time it was all over. I need to step up to the plate! Hup-too!

So glad I checked your blog! You look great. Being a mom is the best and you are great at it. Hopefully I will post something soon!
Your kids are adorable...even unposed and improper ;) The boys look so grown up with their haircuts!
I love the idea of the carrots on the porch. So cute!

Your boys look so grown-up with their haircuts. Looks like you guys had so much fun! I'm super jealous that you are so close to everything! Carlin served his mission in Palmyra and he seriously wants to go back and take show me and the kids around. Can't wait to see more pics of Adeline.
you are so lucky to live so close to all of these wonderful historic and spiritual sites! i hope to go back east someday with Josh and the kids! looks like you guys had a great Easter! I too felt the emphasis on mother's and our important roles to teach the gospel in our home! what an awesome responsibility we have!!
Loved your pictures of Palmyra. I would love to go up that way to see where the church all began. The boys and "Sweets" are getting so big. Children change so fast, can't keep up w/ them anymore.
What a fun trip! I can't wait until we get around to that trip. Your boys are adorable...not to mention your little diva. I was thinking the same thing about conference-I need to print out the talks and review them when I have a moment.
That looks like soo much fun! I would love to go there someday. Thanks for sharing. Loved your Easter pictures too!
BTW, I just posted on your swimsuit post....you have NOTHING to worry about. You look great! I wish I looked as good as you...I have only had 2 children and the youngest is almost 9! Now I'm really sniffing...lol
